Barak: No reason for a costly strike

Defense Minister Ehud Barak said on Sunday that a general strike would be very damaging, and would not lead to a better agreement in a labor dispute over government contractors.
"There is no room to reach a strike tomorrow. The damages from each day of striking are very substantial, and not just financially," he said in a statement.
"Any settlement achieved in the coming days can be achieved tonight, and prevent damages to the economy and labor relations," he continued, calling on the Finance Ministry and Histadrut labor federation to reach a solution in Sunday night's negotiations.
