At the onset of the meeting between Defense Minister Ehud Barak and US Middle East envoy George Mitchell in Tel Aviv on Thursday, Barak said that it's time to move forward, begin the process and overcome all the obstacles, because it will benefit all sides. There is no obstacle that cannot be overcome, Barak was quoted as saying in a Defense Ministry statement. Substantive negotiations on an agreement between us and the Palestinians should begin, while maintaining Israel's security interests, thus enabling the realization of the two-state solution, the defense minister said. Mitchell expressed his understanding to the difficulties facing the sides, pledging his commitment to the process till the goals are reached, the statement said.
