Braverman: Our mandate was peace, Barak wasn't interested
Minority Affairs Minister Avishai Braverman Monday said that Defense Minister Ehud Barak@@@s decision to break away from the Labor party comes before the party was expected to take a decision on leaving the government over a lack of progress in the peace process with the Palestinians.Braverman told Israel Radio that "our mandate was [to bring about] a peace process with the Palestinians and Barak was not interested in that." He added that from the moment the party moved away from the peace process, it moved closer and closer to Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman.The Labor minister added that he thought Barak@@@s move away from the party was a big opportunity for Labor to refocus.
