Clashes on the Temple Mount ahead of Jewish New Year

An operation executed on Saturday night in east Jerusalem by police forces and security forces resulted in clashes on the Temple Mount on Sunday morning according to reports by the Police Spokespersons unit.
Security forces were searching for explosive devices believed to be hidden in East Jerusalem overnight on Saturday. Information gathered by the Shin Bet and police forces showed that several suspects, masked Arab men youth, had escaped to the temple mount.
The suspects had  barricaded themselves in al-Aksa mosque after setting up numerous road blocks to avoid arrest and prevent the Temple Mount compound from being opened to visitors.
Israeli forces stormed the Temple Mount compound in a surprise attack. Suspects responded by throwing dozens of rocks and setting off fireworks at the police forces.
Police forces and riot police removed the barricades to the mosque. Jewish visitors and tourists we allowed to enter the Temple Mount as scheduled.
