A crowd funding campaign has been launched to complete a new synagogue being built in Katzrin in the Golan Heights in memory of Tair Rada, a teenage girl who was murdered in 2006.
Tair was killed in her school in the Golan and found in one of the stalls of a bathroom, a crime which drew national attention. Although construction worker Roman Zadarov who was working at the school at the time was convicted of the crime, the case has been reopened after an appeal to the Supreme Court by Zadarov’s lawyers.
The new synagogue, situated close by to where Tair grew up, is in the final stages of construction, but the project, initiated by Tair’s parent’s, Ilana and Shmuel Rada, is seeking to crowd-fund through the headstart website another NIS 300,000 for the purchase and assembly of a prayer stand, the ark to house the Torah scrolls, as well as the Torah scrolls themselves.
“I miss Tair, I would have given my life instead of hers,” said Shmuel Rada in a promotional video for the campaign.
“I will never be able to cry enough for her even till the day I die,” said her mother.
