Fatah official Sha'ath: UN bid will not end the occupation

Senior Fatah official Nabil Sha'ath said Friday that the Palestinian bid for non-member status at the UN will not end the occupation.
Speaking to Palestinian News Agency Ma'an, Sha'ath said: "The PA will not issue its own currency, but the political victory will enable us to join international organizations and sign the Fourth Geneva Convention."
Sha'ath added that the upcoming request to the UN would be "clear and simple."
In an interview with Israel's Channel 2 TV broadcast on Friday, PA President Mahmoud Abbas said the UN bid "doesn't mean we are looking for an independent state. It will be under occupation, as it is."
