Gaddafi forces shell rebel-held town in eastern Libya

AJDABIYAH, Libya - Forces loyal to Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi shelled the western outskirts of the rebel-held town of Ajdabiyah on Saturday as fighting erupted again on the eastern front in Libya's civil war.
Reuters correspondent Michael Georgy heard blasts and machine gun fire for around 30 minutes from the western boundary of the town, which is the gateway to the rebel stronghold of Benghazi.
"They are bombarding the western gate", one rebel said in the town.
