Gantz: IDF must be ready to operate effectively in the Gaza

Israel must be prepared to launch an offensive in the Gaza Strip that is orderly and makes a painful impact, IDF Chief of General Staff Lt.-Gen. Benny Gantz said on Sunday.
Speaking at a Golani Brigades enlistment at the military base in Tel Hashomer, Gantz said that Israel cannot stand idly by while rocket attacks from Gaza put thousands of Israeli citizens at risk, Israel Radio reported.
Gantz also mentioned recent comments by Rabbi Elyakim Levanon, who said that he would rather religious soldiers face a firing squad rather than hear women singing.
"I don't like what I heard," Gantz said, adding "But I am interested in hearing his full comments before I make my response."
