Hamas says it's not interested in escalation - report

Hamas has reportedly conveyed a message to Israel that it is not interested in an escalation in the Gaza Strip, this according to International Arabic newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat.
This comes after a night of tit-for-tat as several rockets were launched from the Strip at southern Israel overnight Thursday. Two were intercepted by the iron dome. The IDF struck several targets in Gaza in response.

According to the report, senior Hamas officials told the Egyptian delegation that visited Gaza this week that they had no interest in escalating the situation and asked Israel to be committed to the understandings reached a few months ago.

It added that despite no interest in escalation, it told officials tell Israel that  it "is not ready to accept the continuation of the blockade."
Over the past few weeks, the Gaza border region has been heating up as more and more incendiary balloons with IED's attached are launched at Israel, as well as continued attempts to breach and damage the security fence.
