High turnout in Histadrut race

Tens of thousands came out to vote in Tuesday's race for the leadership of the powerful Histadrut Labor Federation between incumbent Ofer Eini and Labor MK Eitan Cabel.
Six hours before polls closed, turnout had already passed the 33 percent in the last Histadrut leadership race in 2007.
Cabel's campaign complained throughout the day that workers were threatened by their employers that they would be punished if they did not come to vote and some were given envelopes by their employers with an Eini ballot inside. Results will only be available Thursday.
