Iranian and Russian officials meet in Tehran to sign Defense pact against foreign meddling

Iran and Russia will collaborate in a mutual defense pact to prevent external forces from interfering in their regional interests, said Brigadier General Hosein Dehqan, the Islamic Republic's Defense and Armed Forces Logistics Minister. Daqhan's words came during the close of his meeting with his Russian counterpart, General Sergei Shoigu on Tuesday, Interfax reported.
The Russian official was on an official state visit to Iran in order to highlight the two country's mutual commitment  to insulate themselves from what they believe to be foreign meddling led by the US.
"We view the ongoing visit and the agreement we have just signed as a foundation of comprehensive military cooperation between the two countries in various spheres," Dehqan said.
The Iranian minister added that "The situation in the region and the world requires that powerful Russia and powerful Iran jointly promote strengthening of international security and regional stability."
