Jerusalem police complete probe into supermarket kingpin Rami Levi

Jerusalem District Police investigators on Thursday finished their investigation against supermarket kingpin Rami Levi, and have passed the case on to prosecutors who will decide whether or not to pursue charges.

The case involves allegations that Levi used the chain’s internal security system to eavesdrop on employees and had also covered up sexual harassment complaints.

Jerusalem Police would not confirm a report by Channel 2 on Thursday evening that they had found enough evidence to support the issuing of an indictment, saying only that the decision rests solely with the prosecutor’s office.

The police first submitted the case to prosecutors in April, but were told by prosecutors there were a number of other investigative measures to carry out, which were only finished on Thursday.

The investigation began earlier this year when a former employee of Rami Levy Communications, Elkanah Alon, complained that officials at the company used its security system to monitor employees.

In addition to Levi himself, a number of other senior company executives have been questioned under caution by police in the case.
