Labor: Knocking Barak around has become a sport among frustrated MKs

Labor party issues harsh

The Labor party issued a harsh response on Monday evening to what it termed the "Knesset Ethics Committee's absurd, borderline hypocritical" decision to obligate Defense Minister Ehud Barak to reimburse the state for a free seat upgrade he received during a transatlantic El Al flight in November. "Former prime ministers and senior government officials, among them Yitzhak Rabin, Shimon Peres, Ariel Sharon, Binyamin Netanyahu, Ehud Barak and Ehud Olmert were offered upgrades on El Al flights for years ... if this practice is to be changed, it must be changed in a forward-looking manner, and not at anyone's expense," read the statement, citing damage to Barak's already precarious image. "Lamentably, the sport of 'knocking' the Labor party chairman around has become popular among frustrated MKs and political rivals," it continued.
