On Sunday, Limud Chile (the Spanish spelling) held its first-ever Jewish learning conference at the Instituto Hebreo Chaim Weizmann in Santiago. Some 500 people gathered on the coldest day of the year to attend various sessions, panels and workshops.
As Limmud volunteer Viviana Kremer explained, “The core volunteer team succeeded in creating a pluralistic framework which included even Jews who until now were only tenuously affiliated.”
Among the sessions was one about Chile’s future, featuring three former cabinet members and two CEOs of top joint government-private sector companies – all Jews.
Limmud International Chairman David Bilchitz welcomed the Chilean Limmud community, adding that “its inaugural conference has been an amazing success and adds a vibrancy and unique flavor to the Limmud.”
