Tel Aviv District prosecutors on Sunday charged Meir Abergil, brothers Shoni and Reuven Gavrieli and three others with involvement in one of the largest internet gambling scams in Israeli history. The 'Internet Café' case unraveled after Tel Aviv District Police and tax authorities began investigating deviations connected to gambling Web sites. According to the charge sheet, the accused operated a number of illegal internet gambling enterprises between the years 2000 and 2002, using a server in the Dominican Republic. The suspects were indicted for money laundering, facilitating illegal gambling, white collar theft, fraud, and tax embezzlement.
