Netanyahu praises Arrow 3 test at meeting with Blair

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's focus moved from low-to-high intensity conflict on Monday, taking time off from following closely the events in the West Bank to heap praise on the successful test of the Arrow 3 anti-missile defense system.

The volatile situation in the West Bank was undoubtedly discussed when Netanyahu met in the afternoon with Quartet envoy Tony Blair, with whom he meets on a regular basis. Yet it was the successful test of the Arrow 3 that Netanyahu underlined at the end of that meeting.

"Israel's hand is always outstretched in peace, but we are always preparing for the other possibilities," he said. "In this context I want to offer my congratulations on the successful test of the Arrow 3."

Netanyahu said the Arrow 3 reflected Israel's technological and security capabilities, the abilities of its military-industrial complex, and its close cooperation with the US.

"This [the Arrow 3] will enable us – in any scenario of peace or with regards to those who want to oppose peace – to contribute to the security of Israel's citizens."
