NYT: Egyptian army will not oversee constitution writing

Egypt's ruling military council has withdrawn a controversial plan to oversee the writing of a new constitution Friday night, the New York Times reported.
The military had said that the Islamist-dominated parliament was not sufficiently representative to write the constitution, leading to a wave of criticism from liberals and Islamists alike.
