PA to postpone condemnation of Israel at UNESCO

The Palestinians have agreed to postpone bringing forward five resolutions condemning Israel before UNESCO's Board meeting in Paris on Wednesday, in a deal brokered by the US between the Palestinian Authority, Jordan and Israel, Israel Radio reported.
The resolutions would have condemned Israel's activity in the West Bank as well as its endangering of Jerusalem's "Arab character" the radio said.
In exchange for the postponement, Israel has agreed to allow UNESCO experts to survey a number of sites in Jerusalem. In addition, Israel has agreed to take part in UNESCO meetings about the Mughrabi Bridge which runs from the Western Wall plaza to the Temple Mount and which has been a source of conflict between Israel and the Waqf Muslim religious trust.
