Peres calls Mofaz to congratulate him on Kadima win

President Shimon Peres called new Kadima leader Shaul Mofaz on Thursday to congratulate him on his win in Wednesday's primary against former leader Tzipi Livni.

"You have a lot of hard work ahead of you," Peres told Mofaz in their telephone conversation. "A difficult task rests on your shoulders."

The president assured Mofaz that the new Kadima leader's political expertise would serve him well, and commended him on the "impressive accomplishment" of becoming Kadima's fourth leader.

"I am sure you can accomplish what you have in store with the proper respect," Peres told Mofaz.
