Protesters call for mass bank withdrawals

Banks are once again being targeted. The cost of living and price protests that have been sweeping the country in recent weeks weeks were expected to reach the banks soon.
A Facebook initiative is calling on the Israeli public to withdraw a "significant" amount of money from ATMs on Monday, August 8, each according to his or her credit limit, and to live on this amount in the near future.
The goal is "abstention" from credit cards, and withdrawing hundreds of millions of shekels from the banks overnight.
Under the headline "Protest against bank fees: On August 8, we will withdraw as much we can from the ATMs!!!" The organizers hope to pressure the banks to reduce interest rates, and to cancel their "varied, high and endless" fees.
