Rabbis call for laxer IDF shooting regulations

Leading Zionist rabbis called on the government to ease IDF regulations defining when they can fire upon stone-throwers and to institute the death penalty for terrorists who kill women and children, Army Radio reported Tuesday.
"We request a change that those in life-threatening situations, such as being pelted with stones or other dangers, will fire at the attackers," the rabbis wrote in a letter to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Ehud Barak.
The signatories of the letter include prominent Yeshiva Rabbi Eliezer Nahum Rabinovitz, Kiryat Arba Rabbi Dov Lior and Sumaria Rabbi Elyakim Levanon.
