Report: Ex-Mossad chief's next of kin want Olmert at funeral

The family of Meir Dagan, the former Mossad director who died on Thursday after a prolonged period of ill health, has reportedly asked that former prime minister Ehud Olmert be permitted to attend his funeral on Sunday.
Olmert, who had a close working and personal relationship with Dagan during his term as premier, is serving an 18-month prison sentence for bribery.
Dagan is to be laid to rest in the Galilee town of Rosh Pina on Sunday.
Channel 2 was the first to report the Dagan family's request for Olmert's presence.
The Dagan family had asked the Mossad to appeal to the Israel Prison Service in hopes of allowing the former premier a brief furlough in order to attend the funeral.
Dagan's funeral will be closed to the press in order to enable members of the vaunted intelligence service to attend, according to Channel 2.
