Sagi says anonymous rumors pushed him out of Labor race

A day after former OC Intelligence Brig.-Gen. Uri Sagi dropped out of the Labor primary race, he confirmed that his reason for forgoing his run was an anonymous claim that he perpetrated criminal acts against a woman some 40 years ago.
Sagi originally cited "family health reasons" for his departure, but Channel 2 reported Wednesday that he left the race due to the anonymous woman's accusations.
"Yesterday they told me there were rumors, and I found myself in a situation in which I couldn't respond, because I didn't know who said what and what the motive behind it was," Sagi told Army Radio on Thursday.
"I don't know how to handle anonymous items which I don't know the basis of," he stated. "Maybe I have a bit of innocence left, and it's a shame. I got out of the army 15 years ago, and when they asked me to contribute my experience, I did so, and it did not come out good."
