Two women arrested protesting France's new burka ban

French police arrested two veiled women Monday morning just hours after a new law banning citizens from donning the burka, or full-face veil, in public, the Telegraph reported. The women were arrested along with several others while protesting the new law in front of the Notre Dame cathedral in Paris.
The Telegraphsaid journalists at the protest said police had moved in to break up the demonstration in front of the cathedral, saying it was not authorized.
The new law fines those found wearing the nikab, burka, or full face veil 150 euros and is the first of its kind in Europe.
