US: Unclear troop number remaining in Iraq cities

A US general said it is still unknown how many American troops will remain in Iraq's cities 30 days before their deadline to withdraw from urban areas. Army Brig. Gen. Keith Walker told reporters Sunday during a briefing in Baghdad that military commanders are working to determine the number of forces that will be added to training teams already working in Iraq's cities. Under an US-Iraqi security pact, American combat troops are required to pull back from Iraq's cities by June 30. Walker said it is not immediately known how many troops will remain. He said combat troops will not be reassigned to training units.
