A special flotilla sent will be sent from Jerusalem to Turkey in the near future, in an unorthodox effort to rebuild ties between the two countries.
The Tisch Family Zoological Gardens in Jerusalem, commonly known as the Biblical Zoo, is sending a veritable Noah's ark of a delegation: elephants, zebras, a hippo, and some lemurs, who are headed to the Gaziantep Zoo in Anatolya, eastern Turkey, which is Turkey's largest zoo.
Gaby the elephant had his goodbye party on Sunday, Reshet Bet reported. He was born in the Jerusalem Zoo in 2005 and weighed 100 pounds at birth. Gaby's trainers at the Biblical Zoo hope that he will be able to start his own family in Turkey, increasing the gene pool of elephants kept in captivity.
