Australian minister to attend Telecom 2006

Helen Coonan Australian Minister for Communications, Information Technology and the Arts and Deputy Leader of the Government in the Senate has a busy week in store at the head of a top-level trade mission attending Telecom 2006.

Helen Coonan Australian Minister for Communications, Information Technology and the Arts and Deputy Leader of the Government in the Senate has a busy week in store at the head of a top-level trade mission attending Telecom 2006. Coonan, who is known to be well-disposed towards Israel, arrived on Saturday with a crowded itinerary including meetings with representatives of Pitango Venture Capital, Alvarion, RAD Group, Orca Interactive; Bezeq, Comverse, and the Israel Electronics Association. She also will attend a dinner with Vice Premier Shimon Peres in which she will be joined by several other communications ministers from abroad as well as leaders of Israel's hi-tech industry. The dinner will be hosted by David Artzi chairman of the Israel Export Institute. On Tuesday, she will see the Telecom Exhibition and participate in the conference; lunch with Dr. Eli Opper,Chief Scientist at the Ministry of Industry and Trade; and meet with her Israeli counterpart Ariel Attias. Also on the agenda will be meetings with Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni and Ronit Kan, director-general of the Anti-Trust Authority. After which she will be one of the keynote speakers at the Prime Minister's Conference at the David Intercontinental Hotel in Tel Aviv.
