Can't find any shekels in your wallet to pay for that cab ride home from the airport as you return from a trip overseas? No worries. Taxi company Hadar Lod has installed new equipment to take credit card payments from passengers traveling from Ben-Gurion Airport in the first phase of a planned entry by Isracard into the general taxi market. The Israel Airports Authority said Monday that Hadar Lod, which falls under the control of the airport's management, standardized its taxis to accept payments from participating credit card companies including Isracard, Visa, Cal, Diners, Master Card, American Express and all international cards that passengers may present. The credit card company estimated that approximately NIS 2 billion is spent on taxis in Israel annually, and it expects about 5 percent of that amount to be paid by credit card next year.
