TASE upgrades Web site to global standards

Site revamped in a move to meet international needs for more accessible and complete info about Israeli markets.

The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange this week unveiled a revamped, user friendly Web site in a move to meet international needs for more accessible and complete information about Israeli capital markets. "With the launch of the new Web site in English and in Hebrew, the domestic and international public, investors, traded companies and investment advisors will be exposed to information and data on the Israeli capital market and companies," the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange said in a statement. "As such, the Tel Aviv exchange will be accessible as much as other global stock markets." US investment bank Bear Stearns recently said the country was unprepared to facilitate foreign investment citing, among other things, limited access to information in English, and called on the Israeli government, regulatory agencies and financial companies to sophisticate their financial services. Now, for the first time, public access to historical TASE trading data and figures beginning from the year 2000 will be available on the site, all free of charge. The site includes a wide range of information on the Tel Aviv exchange itself and on Israel's capital market in general. For example, public companies can directly download all data relevant for their disclosures. In addition, the site provides descriptions and explanations about traded products, listings and the trading system, among other services. Yoni Shemesh, Senior Vice President and manager of the Tel Aviv exchange's IT & Operations Department, underlined that the new site would improve services to the various target markets of the exchange, and strengthen its ties with them. "We have utilized advanced technologies and the unique exchange database in order to meet the information requirements," Shemesh said. The "Company Page," a new service on the site, provides information about each company listed on the TASE. The page features basic information about the company; market data of its various listed securities; the indices in which the company is included; charts and historic data; and a list of the company's disclosures. Another service, the "Product Page," is devoted to each of the investment tools listed on the exchange. For convenience, the site also allows users to create "Personal Portfolios" with a personalized view of chosen securities. "The new TASE Web site is one of the most advanced in Israel," said Ilanit Pesach, co-manager of Netwise, which developed the site. "It is a complex system that accesses a large amount of real-time data on the stock exchange trading systems and other computerized systems, while presenting results in a friendly, inventive manner."
