The High Court of Justice issued an interlocutory order on Wednesday, asking the State to explain why it was refraining from enforcing demolition orders issued for the buildings in the illegal West Bank outpost of Amona.High Court justices Dorit Beinish, Eliezer Rivlin and Elyakim Rubinstein issued the order during a hearing held on the petition filed by 10 Palestinian land owners with assistance by human rights group Yesh Din. The justices ordered the state "to explain within 90 days why the State will not enforce the demolition orders issued for the compound in question.”The order entailed that the State issue an affidavit to explain why it believes the High Court should refrain from issuing a binding order for the demolition of the outpost.In the State’s response to the petition, it acknowledged the fact that the outpost was built illegally, but added that the petition should be rejected as the current West Bank building freeze does not allow it to enforce previous demolition orders.
