Sandy Hook families in late March rejected Jones' offer to settle their defamation lawsuit and reopened the case. Jones had offered to pay $120,000 to each of the 13 plaintiffs to settle the case.
His lawyers had sought to explain his absence by claiming that "Jones was remaining at home under his doctor's supervision when, in fact, he was working at his studios and broadcasting his show."
In the lawsuit, filed in federal court in the District of Columbia, Jones raised constitutional objections to subpoenas the committee issued last month for his testimony and communications.
