This will be Blinken’s sixth regional trip to Israel since the start of the Israel-Hamas war on October 7.
During a visit to the Philippines, Blinken said his trip to meet senior leaders in Saudia Arabia and Egypt would aim to "discuss the right architecture for lasting regional peace."
The Biden administration asked Israel to provide the commitment letter by mid-March.
“Protecting civilians is a priority and not a secondary consideration,” Blinken told reporters in Washington.
Humanitarian aid to Gaza has increased at a steady pace by airdrops and truck deliveries and is the highest since the outbreak of war, despite Hamas accusations.
