A mother of eight who was a follower of Elior Chen, the self-proclaimed rabbi who tortured children under religious pretexts, was sentenced to five years in prison as part of a plea bargain.

The judge said reading the charge sheet caused him "to tremble from horror that a mother of eight children would give them entirely to Chen and his followers, as though she were bewitched and lacking any judgment." Despite this, the judge said he agreed to the plea because he wanted the family to be rehabilitated as soon as possible.

In police investigations , M said that Chen instructed her to "fix" the children, and get rid of demons, by burning, hitting and otherwise torturing them.
