A fire broke out in the Ramat Eshkol region of Jerusalem on Sunday afternoon.

A day care and a synagogue were evacuated following the spread of the fire due to the thick smoke that entered the buildings. Students at the Mount Scopus campus of Hebrew University of Jerusalem reported a burning scent, about 1.5 kilometers from the fire.

Firemen are still trying to get the flames under control.
