A Hamas official denied on Thursday that the organization is attempting to kill the ruler of Nablus and kidnap settlers.

In an interview with al-Jazeera's website, Mahmoud Zahar said "such acts are not a part of Hamas policy."

He said that Hamas is active in Gaza and not the West Bank, and its weapons are pointed only at "the Zionist occupier."
