A senior Hamas commander was back in the Gaza Strip on Saturday following a jailbreak in Cairo during the ongoing protests, Reuters reported.

Ayman Nofal was arrested in the Sinai Peninsula in early 2008 for allegedly hunting members of Fatah who had fled Gaza, according to the report.

Hamas said that Nofal was the commander of the group's armed forces in the central Strip.
