Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Tuesday commented on Operation Pillar of Defense, praising the "bravery" of Hamas and the Islamic Jihad for fighting a holy war against Israel, according to Iran's semi-official Fars news agency.

Commenting for the first time on the Gaza operation, Khamenei said the war had important lessons for all Muslim nations: "If all sides unite with each other, God's promise for emergence of comfort after termination of hardships will come true."

Iran's supreme leader also said that unity is among the essential needs of the Islamic world, Fars reported, adding that in spite of "arrogant power's" plots to divide the Muslim world, it is advancing.
