Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee chairman Shaul Mofaz (Kadima) called on Russia on Wednesday to halt weapons exports to Syria until there was a clearer picture of the current events there, Israel Radio reported.

Mofaz, who visited Russia to meet with government officials, said there is a constant leakage of Russian weapons from the Syrian army to terrorist organizations including Hezbollah.

The Kadima MK added that if Hezbollah is able to receive advanced anti-aircraft and anti-ship missiles, the organization would pose a more serious threat to the Israeli air and naval forces.
