Netanyahu to ask clarifications from Ashton on EU settlement guidelines

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu will ask EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton for clarifications on recently published European Union settlements directive.

Netanyahu held a meeting on the issue in his office on Thursday with Finance Minister Yair Lapid, Justice Minister Tzipi Livni, Education Minister Shai Piron, Economy and Trade Minister Naftali Bennett, Science, Technology and Space Minister Yaakov Peri, Agriculture Minister Yair Shamir and Deputy Foreign Minister Ze'ev Elkin.

The ministers agreed that the EU's settlement guidelines are significantly harmful to the peace process with the Palestinians, and decided to negotiate on the implementation of the guidelines with the EU.
