An IDF soldier was shot dead early Friday morning in an exchange of fire with a Palestinian terrorist, who was also killed in the clash near the Gaza border fence.

IDF soldiers detected an armed Palestinian trying to infiltrate into Israel from Gaza.

A force from the Golani Brigade was alerted to the scene of the infiltration. A gun fight ensued between the terrorist and the soldiers during which the soldier and terrorist were killed.
