The South African foreign ministry announced that it will reinstate its ambassador to Israel nearly seven weeks after he was recalled because of the flotilla raid carried out by Israeli troops in May, AFP reported Tuesday.

The Foreign Ministry issued a statement Tuesday saying that it supports an independent and international investigation of the incident even though it acknowledges the IDF's investigation."South Africa reiterates its call that any investigation should be a 'prompt, impartial, credible and transparent', in line with UN recommendations," the statement said, as cited by AFP.
