Suspicious barrel spotted floating off Ashdod beach

Security forces located on Thursday morning a barrel floating some 50 meters off the Ashdod beach, and were bracing for the possibility that it contained explosives.
Extreme weather conditions and high waves, however, prevented police sappers’ closer scrutiny of the suspicious object.
In recent days, three barrels containing explosives washed up on Israel’s southern shores after being cast into the Mediterranean by Palestinian terrorists in Gaza.
