Ya'alon: US preparing for possibility of Syria intervention

December 27, 2012 08:06

The US is preparing for the possibility that it might have to intervene in Syria, Strategic Affairs Minister Moshe Ya’alon told Israel Radio on Thursday morning.

According to Ya'alon, the US could intervene if Syrian President Bashar Assad uses chemical weapons against his own citizens, or if the considerable Syrian chemical weapons stockpile threatens to fall into the hands of rebel groups.

"At this time there is no worry that Syrian chemical weapons could be used against Israel," Ya'alon added.
