Jewish woman named to Bahrain Shura Council

Nancy Khedhouri has written about Bahrain's Jewish community; three other women including Christian activist appointed to council.

One of ten new members appointed to Bahrain's Shura Council following a royal decree by Hamad ibn Isa Al Khalifa is Jewish historian Nancy Khedhouri.
Khedouri has written extensively on the Jewish community of Bahrain, which has dwindled from over 1,000 to just a few dozen today.

Three other women were appointed to the 40-member consultative council: Supreme Council for Women Secretary-General Lulwa Al Awadhi, Christian human rights activist Hala Qoraisa, and Jameela Nasif.
Two former ambassadors, Khalil Al Thawadi and Mohammed Al Mosalam, were also appointed to the council, as well as former MPs Salah Abdulrahman and Abdulaziz Abul.
Ali Saleh Al Saleh was named chairman for the second consecutive three-year term.
