Hundreds demand affordable housing in Rehovot

"Right, left, religious secular, we are all in the movement," activists say following successful spread of tent protests around the country.

Hundreds of people marched down Rehovot's main Rehov Herzl on Thursday calling for affordable housing and social justice.
Organizers said the march, which arrived at Rehovot's own "tent city" situated near the main shopping center, was a success.

Activists held up signs saying "Education, housing, health," and were joined by hundreds of parents with strollers and young children who called for affordable kindergartens.
"The people demand social justice!" protesters called.
Activists called out to a police car that was accompanying them, "Mister officer, you are worth more than your pay! You too deserve a home."
Other slogans included, "Left, right, religious secular, we are all part of this movement."
"We are connected to the national movement calling for an economic improvement," organizer Barak Lender, 27, told The Jerusalem Post.
Lender praised the Rehovot municipality for providing electricity and other services to the protest tents, saying that Rehovot Mayor Rahamim Malul was providing full support for the demonstrators.
