Israel's UN envoy Gilad Erdan: "Our goal should be to encourage other nations to see Mahmoud Abbas’s departure from Palestinian leadership as a necessary step."
Israel’s ambassador to the UN Gilad Erdan told The Jerusalem Post he was concerned that passage of France’s proposal “might damage severely UNIFIL’s ability to fulfill its mandate.”
Tensions between Washington and Jerusalem have prevented Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Joe Biden from meeting, despite their decades of friendship.
In his speech, Erdan also accused the UN and Palestinian Authority of exploiting the Palestinian refugee issue in the West Bank.
Israel and Morocco are jointly leading the promotion of plans at the UN to help deal with future pandemics.
Erdan recommended that the Israeli government stop issuing visas to new UN workers.
The UN had warned Israel and the Palestinian Authority last year that both governments could be blacklisted in this year’s report.
One of the prosecution's allegations against Netanyahu is that the sale of Yad2, which was owned by Elovitch, was sped up by connections with the PM.
When the prosecution asked if Erdan was concerned about the continuation of the reforms after his tenure as communications minister, he said that he was, but that it fell in line with other policies
