When he was approached in 1972 by the founders of the budding Netafim firm, Rafi Mehoudar had no idea he would soon develop one of the most widely used irrigation technologies around the world.
Under the program, farmer who agree to convert their pepper growing areas into spaces to develop other crops are eligible to receive grants.
The grant, whose application was facilitated by the New York-based American Friends of Hebrew University, will enable the establishment of a Unit of Correlative Microscopy at Rehovot campus.
"We must save the ecological system of the Mediterranean Sea from collapse – 100,000 protected animals die every year in the sea, as a result of uncontrolled fishing," a statement from SPNI said.
