15 kg. of waste per Israeli over holiday

People’s waste production will rise by between 15 and 50 percent during Passover, depending on the region, the Environmental Protection Ministry said on Sunday.
The average person will produce about 1.7 kg. per day, with Tel Aviv residents generating about 2 kg. and Jerusalemites about 1.35 kg. per day, the ministry said.
Owing to pre-Passover cleaning, waste amounts have already increased, with the Hiriya waste transfer site seeing an increase of 50 percent. The ministry called on the public to consume wisely throughout the holiday and make sure to arrive at supermarkets with prepared lists.
It is crucial to dispose of waste properly in designated bins and to collect all of it while spending time in nature, the ministry added.
