Asbestos discovery stops work on Mann Auditorium

The Environmental Protection Ministry ordered renovation work to be put to a stop at Tel Aviv's Mann Auditorium after asbestos was discovered in the ceiling of the building, the office reported on Thursday.
Work will not continue on the facility until all of the asbestos is removed, and according to the Prevention of Asbestos Hazards Law, the contractor must submit an asbestos removal plan to the ministry by December 19, and begin work to eradicate it 48 hours later.
Environment Ministry inspectors monitored asbestos levels in the air surrounding the building on Wednesday, and found that there was a low level of fibers present, but still required the contractors to immediately close the doors and leave all equipment and debris inside, the report said.
