Cabinet ministers will on Tuesday discuss the possibility of setting up an independent panel to investigate the military's conduct during the recent Gaza war.
Pressure to set up a commission of inquiry mounted last week after the UN Human Rights Council endorsed a report accusing Israel of war crimes during Operation Cast Lead.
An aide to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said he's undecided on whether to set up a panel.
The Israeli military has carried out multiple investigations, but there has been no independent inquiry.
The Goldstone Report recommended that both sides carry out credible, independent probes or face possible referral to international war crimes prosecutors.
